Meet Miss Winfrey!

We found this beautiful girl at Lonestar Kill Pen in Texas. She was once a young race horse used for racing on the track. At 20 years old, she ended up at auction and then a kill pen. We rescued her about nine months ago from Lonestar and had her transported to PPI located in the high desert in California. She was about 300 lbs underweight and sickly. We put her on a diet of orchard and senior feed and got our veterinarian and farrier out right away to help with her abscessed feet and overall health.

Miss Winfrey went from being a frail sad girl to a thriving beauty in a matter of a few months. She is the sweetest mare and is gentle and affectionate with everyone she meets. She has completely recovered and is ready to be analyzed to become part of our therapeutic riding program. We have already ridden her around bareback, wearing only a halter and she was as gentle as can be.

Miss Winfrey is a permanent family member at Pet Place International. She will live out her remaining years with us with health, love, and dignity.
